Livestreaming Into New Art City

New Art City supports live streaming into the space using external tools (see list below). Livestream objects behave similarly to video objects, and can be generated using the Add Livestream Object button in your space settings page.

New Art City accounts are limited to live streaming up to 8 hours per month. If you need to use more airtime, please contact us using the help form linked in the top corner of the website.

Add Livestream Button on the Space Settings Page

When you add a livestream object, you will get a server URL and stream key, which you will enter into an external program where you will conduct the stream. When you begin streaming, the livestream object will automatically start playing and everyone in your New Art City space will see your broadcast. Most broadcasting setups encounter a delay of around 30 seconds.

Some External Livestreaming Tools

  • OBS
    • Free, open source, well supported industry standard broadcasting tool. Robust, but somewhat complex.
  • Zoom
    • Requires a paid account, and activation before streaming within their settings.
      • Here are instructions on activating this feature within Zoom.
      • And here is a video tutorial created by our interns Raymond and Clay.
  • Streamyard
    • Easy, paid, browser-based solution. No downloads required, and very easy to invite guest speakers and share videos.
