Code of Conduct

Our community grows slowly and for our first two years, we personally spoke with every person using our tool. This allowed us to understand clearly who had resources to contribute and who those resources should be redistributed to. Slow growth enables the boundaries of trust to be wide in terms of content and conduct, as we have not had any incidents thus far in either domain.

We are committed to maintaining a safe environment everywhere our community gathers, distributing agency to navigate in virtual space, and providing visibility for underrepresented artists.

As we continue to grow, the structure for how we maintain connection with new community members and moderate content will likely need to change over time.

We abhor racism, homophobia, and imperialism and reserve the right to remove any content in this domain. Hate speech anywhere on New Art City or our Discord server will not be tolerated.

Refer to Terms of Use for policy on copyright and access to the NAC software.

Event Anti-Harassment Policy

All attendees, artists, organizers, volunteers and staff at events hosted on New Art City are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event and remove users who break it. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

The Ground Rules

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free online experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery in any event venue, including exhibitions, talks, workshops, parties, and other online media, must be flagged with a content warning. If artwork includes sexual language or imagery, we expect that guests be respectful of the artist and the dialog around the work. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the event organizers. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Event organizers are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, New Art City or the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of event staff immediately. We expect participants to follow these rules at events and event-related social events.
